Our stay was outstanding! From our first sight of the Sligo Sea Barn, to entering the interior our senses were heightened. It began with the very warm welcome from Mary and Desi, the bedrooms were fabulous, with their balconies and seaviews, the... kitchen, with all its five star equipment to the balcony overlooking the sea and dining area. The luxury of the Voya toiletries. The private access to the sea and the surrounding garden areas made the experience feel exclusive. I could go on however the features the Sea Barn offers can only be appreciated properly by experience. Go see!read more

Just on our way back to Dublin after a fantastic 5-day stay at the Sligo Sea Barn with my son, my mum, my siblings and their kids. The facilities are excellent with comfy beds, quiet rooms, slick bathrooms and a superbly-designed kitchen. The house... provides a unique setting and a great way to enjoy the wild beauty in this part of the world. Easy to get to from Sligo, Mullaghmore, Lisadell and Benbulben are all within striking distance. Staying in the Sligo Sea Barn was a fabulous experience. The location is stunning with a private footpath to the beach. Des, Mary, Elena and Tola were wonderful hosts with tea/coffee and homemade cakes for us on arrival. The rooms were super. There... were great walking and cycling routes around the area. I was one member of a diving group staying there. We had loads of room to park the jeep and boat in the yard.I would highly recommend the Sligo Sea Barn to anyone for a wonderful place to stay. And I hope to get back there for a weekend away again soon.read more

Just had a wonderful stay at The Sligo Sea Barn. We went for a luxurious hen party. The location is an easy drive from Sligo town. The house is very spacious, impeccably clean and very well equipped. The details were very luxurious such as the robes... and Voya products in the bathrooms. We hired local caterers on the recommendation of Des and Mary and the food was delicious. The kitchen is very well set up for caterers but would be no problem to cook yourself there either.The house has a projector which was very easy to connect to wirelessly and we made good use of it for a quiz and games for evening entertainment. All of the guests were very impressed with the house and location. Would definitely recommend Sligo Sea Barn for a group or family celebration. Des and Mary were very welcoming. Thank you!read more

Booked this amazing barn for a hen party. We had the most incredible weekend. The views were beautiful and our very own path way to the beach was perfect for the morning swim at sun rise. The rooms were spacious beds were so comfortable. We had our... own bath ropes slippers towel and voya products. We also got a catering company to provide our meals.(REDZ Catering Sligo) The kitchen had everything you need , house was full of equipment which was very handy for us. The photos of this house doesn’t do it justice we were all in shock with how stunning it was. The room decor was beautiful. Would definitely be back. Des and Mary were so welcoming. LUXURIOUS is an understatement.Mary, Des, Elena, and Tola were the consummate hosts! The effort they put into the Sligo Sea Barn shines through every detail. We enjoyed the privacy and QUIET of each room as well as the comfort of the main... gathering room. Even with 10 people, it was amazing how quiet and restful the rooms were. We enjoyed many meals and played a lot of family games in this "great" room! We were delighted with the views of the sunrise over Sligo Bay, seen from the large picture windows on the second level. We walked to the beach with morning coffee, so serene. We also walked the Raghly trail loop almost daily with its beautiful views.The local pubs were a great place to get an excellent pint of Guinness(or two)... Everyone we met was wonderful and we can't wait to return. Thank you to the Carway family for being great hosts!! Slainte!!read more

Spent a weekend at sligo sea barn with a group of friends for my 40th birthday. To say that the sea barn exceeded my expectations is an understatement. The accomodation is pure luxury , complete comfort and amazing views. The location is idyllic,... away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The hosts made this experience all the more memorable. Mary and Des are the kindest, most welcoming people you could hope to meet and went out of their way to make sure our stay was hassle free and most enjoyable. Everything we could need from a self catering point of view, was readily available and the hosts were on call if there was anything extra we needed (there was not, however, the house was very well stocked). I would highly recommend this location for a break away with friends or family. Somewhere to relax and unwind in a beautiful part of the country. Can't wait to return.read more

Just back from a weekend spent with my friends at Sligo Sea Barn. I rarely leave reviews but this place is so special & unique that I had to write about my experience. From the moment we arrived in Sligo Mary & Des the hosts could not have been more... helpful and attentive to our group. The accommodation is immaculate, beautifully decorated with the most wonderful smells throughout. The sea views in every room are amazing….it’s really peaceful & direct access to the beach for morning swims etc. Facilities are top notch & the kitchen has everything you need from a self catering point of view. Just lots of little extras that make the stay 5star. Def a hidden gem & we will most certainly be back again. Des & Mary really went out of their way to make our stay extra special. This place is special. It is unique and spectacular. We had our wedding reception here and our guests were simply blown away. The atmosphere, finish and style of the barn had them giddy with excitement, but the views from their rooms and outdoor... seating areas left them speechless. We had a magical two days. Four generations of my family spent a blissful week from 7th to 14th August at the Sligo Sea Barn. The accommodation exceeded our expectations and we all slept soundly in the very comfortable beds. The well equipped kitchen was a pleasure to use. ... Mary and Dessie were on hand to help us get to the Golden Strand beach and they also washed clothes as the Barn does not have a washing machine. Our stay at the Sea Barn was amazing, wonderfull, delightfull and I could go on and on. We were there for the wedding of our son Adrian O Flynn to Amy Brick the last eeekend in August 2021. They couple booked it for 3 nights and we had fun getting... all ready on Friday, Then stayed over Satuday and Sunday night. Everything was so clean and well prepared inside and outside.Des and Mary made every effort to ensure we enjoyed every inch of their beautiful building, beautiful gardens and beautiful beach. I had the most memorable weekend with a group of friends in Sligo Sea Barn recently. Every aspect of our stay was of a 5 star standard. Exceptional location, footsteps from the water and so close to beautiful scenery, walks and various outdoor... activities. The property is extremely clean, modern and fully equipped with everything one could possible need for a trip away. Extra touches such as the Voya products, outdoor balconies, and private pathway to the beach, just makes this accommodation different from all the rest! We had a lovely stay at the Herdsman’s House. It was a great location to explore Sligo and the surrounding areas. Benbulben, Gleniff Horseshoe, Glencar Waterfall, and more are all a short drive away. Close to home are some beautiful walks, including... the Raghly Loop, Yellow Strand, and the beach fronting the Sea Barn across the road. There were lovely places to eat within a short drive as well, like Laura’s of Carney and Yeats’ Tavern. A bit further out we enjoyed Strandhill (recommend Shells Cafe) and Mullaghmore (Eithna’s by the Sea had one of the best burgers I’ve eaten… and I’ve eaten a lot of them).The home itself was perfect for our group. We were reuniting with grandparents after being separated by Covid, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The home was spotlessly clean when we arrived, with lovely views of Sligo Bay, and it had everything we needed. Mary and Des were superb hosts, warm and thoughtful, and they went above and beyond to make sure we had a great holiday. Our daughter even got a real farm experience when one of the cows needed its hoof repaired. She loves animals, so that will be a definite memory for her.It was a holiday to remember, relaxing and restorative. Thank you, Mary and Des.read more

We had a lovely holiday at Herdsman House. Mary and Desmond and their children made us feel really welcome. The house is extremely well equipped; the games room even had toys suitable for our three and five year old grandchildren. Desmond supplied... turf so that we could have a hearty fire – this was very nostalgic for me – a reminder of holidays on the Isle of Skye in my childhood. When can I check in?
You can check in from 15:00 – 18:00. If you need to make alternative arrangements, please contact the owners (Desmond – 0861722309).
Is there a possibility of an additional bed being set up, if needed?
Yes, at an additional charge. Please notify owners 2 days’ in advance.
What new cleaning routines/rules exist in relation to Covid-19?
Hygiene and cleanliness are our priority. We follow the recommendations set out by Failte Ireland and the Department of Health.
Do you require a booking deposit?
Yes, we require a 30% non-refundable booking deposit to secure your booking. The balance of the rental amount is due 5 weeks before your stay.
How can I cancel or change my booking?
Once your booking has been confirmed by us, we may accept amendments received from you within 48 hours of the initial booking, pending availability. Changes cannot be made at the commencement of your stay. If any portion of the booked period is cancelled after arrival, we are not able to refund any monies.
When do I have to check out?
The property is yours until 11:00am on your day of departure.
Is there car parking?
There is free monitored car parking for multiple cars or coaches.
Where to go for food and drink?
The nearest shop is a 5 minute drive and supermarket 10 minutes. There are four restaurants and takeaways within a 10 minute drive. Two pubs 5 minutes away.
