Herdsman House is a spectacular vacation location. You'll wake up in a postcard every morning with a beautiful view of Drumhill and Sligo Bay.All the amenities of today and the pace of another generation. The rooms are generous and there's plenty of room for a large family.All close by: surfing, waterfalls, outstanding walks, beaches,... Lissadell House, fishing, antiquing, golf. End your day at thatch roofed pub, Ellen's or with a beverage as the sun gives way to the stars in the sun room. Mary and Des couldn't be better hosts.We'll be back!read more

We had a lovely stay at the Herdsman’s House. It was a great location to explore Sligo and the surrounding areas. Benbulben, Gleniff Horseshoe, Glencar Waterfall, and more are all a short drive away. Close to home are some beautiful walks, including the Raghly Loop, Yellow Strand, and the beach fronting the Sea Barn across the road. There were... lovely places to eat within a short drive as well, like Laura’s of Carney and Yeats’ Tavern. A bit further out we enjoyed Strandhill (recommend Shells Cafe) and Mullaghmore (Eithna’s by the Sea had one of the best burgers I’ve eaten… and I’ve eaten a lot of them).The home itself was perfect for our group. We were reuniting with grandparents after being separated by Covid, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The home was spotlessly clean when we arrived, with lovely views of Sligo Bay, and it had everything we needed. Mary and Des were superb hosts, warm and thoughtful, and they went above and beyond to make sure we had a great holiday. Our daughter even got a real farm experience when one of the cows needed its hoof repaired. We had a lovely holiday at Herdsman House. Mary and Desmond and their children made us feel really welcome. The house is extremely well equipped; the games room even had toys suitable for our three and five year old grandchildren. Desmond supplied turf so that we could have a hearty fire – this was very nostalgic for me – a reminder of holidays on... the Isle of Skye in my childhood.
