We really enjoyed our stay in Sligo Beach house It is a beautiful spacious clean house with amazing views from all windows. The area is great for walks with a beautiful costal walk close to the house.
Des and Mary are very friendly welcoming hosts.
Bedrooms
Spacious bedrooms with both stylish and traditional features. Three of our bedrooms face the Atlantic Ocean with stunning views. Fourth back bedroom can be used as an en-suite. Hotel quality bed linens, duvets and pillows.
Two bathrooms with VOYA organic, seaweed amenities. Accessible bathroom (recently renovated) with rain head and hand held shower, lighted mirror, and vanity sink unit. The second bathroom has a walk-in wet room, sink and toilet. Set of white towels (bath sheet, hand and face) for all guests.
The Lounge and Dining Area
Our bright, spacious lounge has some relaxing chairs/couches, a dining table, and the ever popular ‘sun room!’ Breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and our farm animals. Relax with your morning coffee, read a book, or ‘have the chat’!

The Kitchen
Bright, spacious fitted kitchen with dishwasher, 60/40 fridge/freezer, oven, electric hob and dining table – seating for 6. Additional dining table in lounge with seating for 6.
Utility room off the kitchen with washing machine, dryer, iron/ironing board, and recycling bins.
Spectacular location! Mary and Des were a pleasure to deal with and extremely accommodating. House is very clean and offers great privacy with an incredible view to the sea. We look forward to returning some day.
This property turned out to be the perfect location for us. Close to all things and people we love. We spent a month here and by the time we left we felt like part of the community. It was definitely rural but only 10km to N17 and the views were beautiful. I definitely miss watching the calves playing in the field across from the house. Mary & Des were great hosts and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.
I cannot recommend Ballinful House enough! Desi and Mary made us feel so welcome. The house is cozy, the views are out of a postcard! There’s hiking just outside the door. The location is amazing! It was so nice to have a kitchen that was well stocked. There were plenty of towels and the showers were great. We went to Ireland and stayed in Galway, Sligo, and Dublin. We unanimously agreed that Sligo/Ballinful House was our favorite!
We had a fantastic stay! We were two families sharing the house and it was perfect in every way, with lots of space and very well equipped. The area is stunningly beautiful, with lots of great walks and swimming on your doorstep, and lots of activities a short drive away. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely come again.
Our weeks stay at the Herdsman’s House a few kms from downtown Sligo was magical. The accommodations were as advertised, impeccably clean, spacious and cozy at the same time. Spectacular views of Sligo Bay and the surrounding farmland. Des and Mary made us feel like family, with great tips on places to visit, and what Ireland’s northwest has to offer. We enjoyed this “off season” visit and highly recommend this special place, where farmland meets the sea. We are already planning a return visit. John & Lydia
We stayed here for two weeks with our three little kids (all three and under). Mary and Des went out of their way to give us a warm welcome. They provided excellent local recommendations, lots of amenities, and tractor rides for the kids. The space itself was beautifully situated on a quiet road overlooking the beach, calves gamboling in a field, and the hills beyond. It was a very relaxing environment. The house was spacious, extremely clean and well cared for. We hope to stay here again!
